"In times of destruction, one's intelligence works against them"
(Vinaashakaale Vipareetha Buddhi)
It is true that Leaf Spot Disease is affecting arecanut plantations in parts of the Malnad region. However, no one has found a suitable solution to this problem yet. Despite this, chemical companies are gearing up to make fools of farmers once again. They are inciting farmers to spray poisons using modern drone technology from heights of 50 to 60 feet.
The consequences of this include:
Impact on Pollinators: Honeybees avoid areas where poison has been sprayed. Without bees, flowers in the orchards do not get pollinated and simply drop off.
Vicious Cycle: To counter this drop, our farmers are then urged to spray even more poison.
Reduced Yield: The ultimate result of all this is a significant decrease in crop yield.
Only a few people understand the vital role of bees in maintaining the balance of nature. They are delicate organisms.
Action for Farmers:
Please inform your neighbors about these issues.
If you receive advance notice of spraying, move your bee boxes to a safer location.
Chemical companies are exploiting our innocence, fear, and ignorance. Let us practice agriculture carefully and consciously. Let us move towards poison-free farming.
